Day 8: Final Farewell

It was the last day :(

The week went by so quickly! Our team has loved every second we got to spend with the kids and the adults of the church. They keep telling us we're a blessing but its us who have been blessed with the experience of being here and knowing them all and doing whatever we could to help. Any of you who have ever helped put on a VBS knows exactly how stressful it can be but at the end of the day/week it's changed your life as much as it's hopefully changed that of the kids and parents who've attended. Such a splendid group of people to come on a mission with as well. We've made friends, became apart of a family, and given our hearts to many english children all in one week.

Captain Ketchup was quickly remembered and won't be soon forgot, She and Sputnik made quite a team and were requested back again. It's one of my favorite things that almost everytime one of the kids walked passed me they put up their hand for a high five or wave and a happy shout of "Hello Captain Ketchup!!!" I've been asked to come back with a glow in the dark cape next year, we'll see.

The story today was about feeding the 5000. Every where Jesus went crowds followed him and this day was like any other  with the crowds, so Jesus climbed up a hill so everyone can see/hear him better, and then came around to lunch time and Jesus asked his disciples to find something to eat for everyone. The only thing they found was a little boy with 5 fish and 2 loaves of bread. Jesus took this small lunch and made it fill many baskets and everyone ate till full, and there were still 12 baskets of leftovers. Jesus and God provide for us in our every moment, all we have to do is ask, and God comes through.

During the last 20 mins of Holiday Club the parents came in to watch the kids sing and dance to the songs of the week, My Lighthouse, Great Great Brill Brill, and Guardians of Ancora theme song (whip and Nene actions lol), plus they get to hear the kids be asked questions about that day's lesson and prayerfully want to ask questions about it for themselves.  After that we all went outside to have a BBQ with the kids and parents, and say our goodbyes to those who don't get to join us on Sunday for the final Holiday Club recap/quiz showdown and a last Gunging (slime machine), to which I fear Captain Ketchup has reason to bring a change of clothes to church....

When all our hugs were given we were taken off to Gloucester to see the shipyard and docks, plus the wonderful Cathedral that is mindblowingly amazing, and a Harry Potter sight.

We can't thank all of you at home enough for your prayers and support to get us here!!
