Day 6: BBQ at Synell

We had rain through the evening and early morning which put a damper on my walk but sunshine joined us right before Holiday Club started.

Captain Ketchup and Sputnik had quite a few jokes and laughs today! Saved my reputation with setting the record straight "I do like dogs!" What do you call a sleeping bull?...... A Bulldozer", you're welcome!!! My favorite of the day "What did Obi Wan say to Luke when he was eating chips with a spoon?..... Use the Fork Luke" After a hug and a dog biscuit I flew off to turn back into my other identity.

Our story of the day was about Jairus who ran to see Jesus because his daughter was dying, and Jairus knew that Jesus could save her. While Jesus was in a huge crowd he stopped and said "someone touched me" His disciples pointed out that he's in a huge crowd of course he's been touched. Jesus replied "I felt the power of God course through me so I know someone touched me". I woman stepped forward fell at His feet and said it was she who touched him, that she'd been suffering in secret with a bleeding disease for years and knew that just touching Jesus would heal her, and Jesus said she was because her faith was so strong. Jairus daughter died before Jesus could arrive but Jesus and his 3 disciples rushed to the house with Jairus and Jesus went to the girl and held her hand saying "Get up child". Such a powerful story of healing and faith.

Margaret shared her story of a scary illness that required surgery, she prayed and everyone at church prayed, and she had the surgery, 2 weeks later she went in for the results and the Dr's said she never should've had the surgery because she was totally healed. Praise Jesus!

The Blue group made cardboard chariots today and once those were finished we took them up to the field for a relay race. These kids are amazingly creative. One group of girls had wings taped to the side and a cardboard unicorn head taped to the front, and a group of boys had made a lid for two to fire out weapons (if weapons had been allowed).

After lunch we went to Newark Park, a Tudor hunting lodge that was restored by an American from 1970s till his death in 2000. It is a beautiful lodge that is now a National Trust site, outstanding gardens, home to cows, sheep , and 2 peacocks. Jane is a proficient at a peacock impression but still dreadful at her British accent, right now she's channeling the Aussies.

From Newark Park to Synell Park for a BBQ and games with the kids & parents of the Wotton community. Holiday Club & the Wotton Baptist Church are such a blessing to this town, and our team couldn't be more proud and excited to be a part of this mission and time with the town.
