Only one day left till Holiday Club is over :( , but since it's not over yet let's celebrate Thursday!
The day started nice, cool, and kind of misty, thankfully we brought jackets. Got to church by half past 9 like normal, had an early team meeting and a group picture of all the volunteers, Sputnik even came out and joined us for that.
The kids dress up theme was dress up like your best friend. There were 2 little boys that were beyond awesome in dress and dedication, Josh, was dressed up as his friend Holly so he had on a dress, sandals, and painted his nails, and the other little boy I don't know his name since he wasn't in my group, he dressed up as a Dragon.... yeah he was my favorite, I asked him if his best friend was indeed a dragon, and he held up his stuffed dragon and promptly said "oh yes!" Kids are awesome!!
We sang Great, Great Brill, Brill!!! A song I have yet been able to bring home with me, maybe this is the year. Blue group went to the pool to swim for their afternoon activity, it was Green groups turn at making Chariots, and they did an excellent job, Red group made pictures and are also working so hard at memorizing the verse and doing so great, Yellow group I'm not totally sure since there are no Americans in that group.
Today was about the lame man who's friend lowered him through the roof to see Jesus and be healed. There were great special effects for making it seem if he came over the wall and not crawled in from a hole. The kids just amaze me in how much they are engrossed in the story/drama even when we're purposely unrehearsed. Jesus instead of healing the man told him his sins were forgiven which angered some people because only God can forgive sins , and Jesus very smartly says "which is easier to heal this man or forgive his sins" and then told the man to "get up, pick up his mat, and go home." The man left praising the Lord. Such an amazing story of healing and forgiveness.
After lunch we went to Wales into Chepstow to see my favorite castle, Chepstow Castle. It's massive and still very much has that medieval "I'm in a castle" feel to it. It's walls are still fortified. After Chepstow we drove down to Tintern Abbey, the beautiful ruins of a Catholic Church, that was destroyed under the reign of Henry VIII, when he became protestant. Just looking at the walls you are just in awe of how the whole thing was built without all our machinery today plus wondering how much taller it would've been if the roof was still on it. Finally had a Cream Tea at Tintern!!! Jane can officially do anything else with her life now since she's lived to have a Cream Tea
Home again from Wales, Annette, Blake, and I went Martin & Margaret's for dinner. We can all now say we've had pickled Herring. Martin's movie collection almost blows mine out of the water, almost.... Poor Annette had to hear us drone on about movies and TV.
