Day 5: A Midsummer Day's Dream

A spot of sunshine to start our day here in Jolly Olde England!

Off to the church by half past 9 to meet with all the leaders to have a quick briefing of the day and prayer for all the children, their parents, and all the volunteers before we unleash the lot on us. We got more kids today!!!! Now we're at 135ish, yay!!!

The lesson for the today was about how Jesus is in control of everything. Our drama was the story of the Roman Centurion who's favorite servant was ill and sent other servants to go ask Jesus to come heal him. Even the Roman knew and believed that Jesus was all powerful and before He got to the house they stopped Jesus and said the Roman knew that He was so powerful that Jesus could just speak the words of healing and the servant would be well, and that's just what happened. In the drama the ill servant was played by Katie, and when she was said to be well she decided that she didn't want to hop and played dead .... lol eventually she started laughing so we knew Jesus had healed her.

Helen, a leader in the Red group, got up and shared her testimony about how when she was about to graduate from University she was getting very nervous about not having a job yet, and prayed to God that He would have the right job show itself. Her dream job was at the BBC network, she then got nervous that she'd have too many offers and wouldn't know which was the right one, so she prayed again and asked God to just give her one job offer. Well graduation happened and all her friends were getting jobs and she had none.  She had to remind herself that God had it all under control and that she asked Him for one job offer. God did just that, out of 2000 applicants down to 20 she got a job at BBC. Praise the Lord!

The Green team is still the biggest, but our Americans say they're a perfect bunch of kids, who are very interested in the lighthouse of Ancora and how it's flickering and staying lit from the true stories of Jesus. One of the greens asked me if I was Captain Ketchup (since I wasn't in my costume) and I said maybe then her little friend piped up "no you're not, because Captain Ketchup has red hair"..... Yeah I too was left speechless and questioning my hair color when not in costume. Annette says there was a little boy in the Reds who yesterday was in tears and not really wanting to participate but today he came up out of nowhere and said "Jesus is everywhere and always with us" Amen!

After Holiday Club the Americans went to the Royal Oak Inn for lunch and ate out in the back garden, and we sat there to catch up on our mornings with the kids. We've decided that there are many words and phrases used here that are just to lovely to not bring back with us favorite of the week being "having a lie down" it sounds so much nicer than a "nap".

In the evening we set off for Berkerley Castle with picnic baskets and chairs to watch an outdoor performance of Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream. After we got to the carpark we were missing something very important our tickets to the show and the lady, Annette, who had them. A bit of miscomunication on meeting areas left her behind, but Chris quickly raced back at an ungodly speed and returned with her in 23 mins. After that mishap, it was not only an excellent picnic even with the picnic police (Bill & Jane) saying we did it wrong lol, but the show was beyond amazing! Annette found us the best way to spend the evening and the rain was kind enough to stay away until we were driving home.
