Day 9: Bazinga! Look she's wearing the t-shirt!!!

We spent the day in Bath!

My favorite city, because of it's ties to Jane Austen, my favorite author. We headed off at 930 this morning, and caught the bus from the car park down to the city. It's steep roads there, and when you ride on the top deck of the bus you get this view that at any moment you're going to run over someone or at least tap them with the front of the bus. Watching Desmond's face made for a fun ride.

Once we got to the last stop, we walked down to the Bath Abbey and the Roman Baths to show the newbies (Donna, Sarah, Desmond, and Becka) a meeting point so that way we could split off and see Bath at our own pace.  Desmond and I, took off for the Jane Austen Museum to get some new Jane stuff :). From there we walked about to the Circus, an example of Georgian architecture in the city of Bath the name comes from the Latin 'circus', which means a ring, oval or circle. After that we went up to the Royal Crescent, another beautiful example of Georgian architecture, residential road set in a crescent of about 30 houses. Many period pieces have been set there including Persuasion (Jane Austen novel set in Bath). Poor Desmond I then dragged him down the Jane Austen walk, just a path set out from her first house in Bath to her last one, so in a sense we were walking in her steps. Before that though, we watched a street comedian/juggler perform some awesome tricks and Desmond help with the flaming torch of death (oooooo ahhhh) we recorded it. You can hear my laughter in the background, I tried so hard to be quiet lol.

We met up with everyone at 1 to get some lunch at Sally Lunn's Tea Room. It's a restaurant in the oldest house in Bath, in 1680 Sally Lunn, a French refugee,  in Lilliput Alley she found work with the baker and introduced her now famous light and delicate ‘bun'. It's melt in your mouth good, whether you have sweet toppings or savory mmmm.

I was wearing my Big Bang Theory Sheldon/Bazinga tshirt, and we passed many people who would get really excited and yell out "Bazinga" and point at my shirt. The best reaction was today's title, see above for that.
We went our separate ways again only to meet up at 4 to catch the bus back. Many beautiful sights, and tons of shopping for us to do (isn't that right, Becka?). Donna, Sarah, Angie, and Annette, took the open double decker bus tour of Bath. Once we were back, we had dinner at James and Lesley's house, FISH and CHIPS!!! (I also took a bite of Wayne's mushy peas, we're the only ones who like them) Great company, food, and ice cream, which gets it's own category.

Donna came home with me to Chris and Lucy's house, we have exposed her to Horrible Histories (I'm converting fans, one American at a time). We had our last late night together, they were leaving tomorrow for New Wyne a christian camp conference.

Fun Facts: I'm very jumpy, and easy to scare. Donna and I went to go to the restroom at the same time and I was unaware that she was there. So, as I stepped out of my door, she stuck her head out of the loo and said "boo". My reaction "Cheese and rice!!!" I promptly ran back to my room.

So far I've guessed the bad guy in 3 out of 4 episodes of Agatha Christie's Poirot.

I got my picture taken with a living statue and fed some pigeons out of my hand.

God Bless and many thank yous for reading,

Scarlett

p.s. we're ready for our own beds but I think next year everyone is just going to bring their own beds with them so no worries there ;)
