Day 6: Barefoot Cricket

Wednesday, it's almost over :(

Today the kids dressed up like cyclists, it was a mass of kids in helmets. Unfortunately I wasn't wearing one when I ran into that wall....(just kidding!) We also got more kids again!!

I was running late today when trying to change into my costume, so Captain Ketchup went barefoot, but not to worry the kids didn't mind. Oddly enough easier to dance barefoot, knock knock......(who's there?) Lettuce.....(lettuce who?) Lettuce get on with the blog. (pause for laughter) Today the kids learned  about following Jesus and why that is really wonderful thing to do. The disciples, could tell just by looking at Jesus that this guy was special, and even though we can't see Jesus, we know He's special by our faith, and by reading His word so that we may grow closer to God through Jesus. John 14:6 Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth , and the life. No one comes to the father except though me."

In the drama today, major props to almost all of us to do it without our scripts!! Bigger props that none of us keeled over after all that running and fake tripping we did. Moral was that only Jesus is the ultimate Superman, and with his guidance we can find our way.

We had a wonderful time in the Blue group today. Our Olympic event was the shot put, but instead of actual ones, we used water bombs (water balloons... I don't make these things up, that's what they called them). The girls tended to be better throwers, no big surprise here but the boys were never far off. We also got all our exercise in for the day, we played dodge ball but only the adults were the throwers (much safer that way even though I did get a kid right to the neck). Back down to the church where we prayed and asked God to bless everyone in our group.

After HC, the Americans and a few tag along Brits (Mollie & Joel) went out for lunch, and after getting lost and asking almost everyone we passed where we should eat we finally made it to the Royal Oak. We ate out in the back garden, it's interesting here you get a menu find your seat and then have to come back in to order your food, and then they bring it out to you. Sadly we do need your prayers, Karen chipped her tooth at lunch and has a dentist apt in the morning. Please pray for a quick fix and relief from pain for her.

This evening, we had an event out at the Synwell playing fields, a park to play games as well as having play ground equipment. All the kids from HC we're invited with their parents. We played continuous Cricket (very tiring but so much fun), my team was a 6 yr old, 3 girls and Barney the preachers kid (who by the way is an excellent wicket keeper ,Tom), and we were against Joel's team all boys, and they were very good. Ending score 27-All, so it was a draw (gentleman's game no winners, no losers). They had a BBQ, going as well, it was so awesome to see all the kids and families eating together and playing games just really basking in the Love of Jesus (whether realized it or not, it was surrounding us).
Fun Facts: Tonight at the playing fields and BBQ, as I walked in the gates some of the kids saw me, and you hear these whispers of "is that Capt Ketchup?" "I think that's Capt Ketchup" then one was brave enough "Hello Capt Ketchup!" It was awesome, and some kids from HC, who didn't even know me were just repeating the excitement of "Capt Ketchup is here!"

We had some Jackets for lunch w/ cheese and bacon. (Baked Potatoes)

There are age limits on swings in some parks here. (Things you find out after you swing of course)

God Bless

Scarlett

p.s. funny story, I named this post before I played cricket with the kids today, and yes I ended up going barefoot cause my gladiator sandals aren't that easy to run in...(how did they do it?)
