Today went off without a hitch!
We got more kids today, so we're up to 114, God is definitely at work here!! We're chock full but its absolutely amazing. This morning's registration went very smoothly, no kids turned away, and no time wasted on explaining things we just got right down to it. Today's theme was about stepping out in faith, like a blind man Bart, in the bible did when he asked Jesus to heal him. His faith was so strong he didn't care that the crowds were shushing him, he knew Jesus could heal him, and God/Jesus helped him get over a difficulty and he then followed Jesus for the rest of his life. Such an amazing story of faith and trust. Tom, minister, did a trust excercise with 2 of the kids ( stand on a chair fall back and have that Tom will catch you) I'm happy to say he caught them both.
The drama was totally brilliant. Matthew (a teenager helping out and playing the villain) has done the most amazing job of getting the kids to dislike him, evil laugh is classic. Today sketch was about not giving up and having faith that together we can fix the problem. Being a part of Jesus' Team is like that, cause thru Him we can do the impossible.
At the Blue Boxers Group, our numbers went up as did our fun :). We played games, did crafts and really learned how to work as a team. In the Green Gogetters Group, Donna, said that she really feels like she's connecting with the kids in her group and they're beginning to trust her and sharing their stories of heart break at home, with parents being separated and only seeing their dad once a week. That really got to her heart, and would be greatly appreciated if you all could help her pray for peace and healing for those kids whose lives have been majorly disrupted. Please pray for Donna as well, that she might find the right words of comforting and love for them.
Tomorrow is cycling day so I'm very excited to see the kids costumes for that.
After HC today we all went to Chepstow Castle in Wales, with our wonderful drivers, James Chase (Annette, Angie and Becka staying at his house), Chris Lowther (My english dad), Derek French (a wonderful man from the church), and Wayne Birch (the resident comedian of Wotton, but he's not very punny at all, lol). It was a proper castle, still had almost all it's walls, beautiful views, spiral staircases, but I couldn't find the dungeons. It was a very neat place, tons of children running around and playing (they have a room set up with props and costumes for kids to really get into history). I couldn't live in a castle, my shoes are too sensible.
Then our group split again, Angie, Desmond, Karen, and myself went to Clearwell Caves/mines. We were 100 feet underground. It was very interesting to go through the different mine shafts, nooks, and crannies, to really get a feel of being down there for a job. It was an iron ore mine many years back, now just a tourist attraction. No signs to touch things so, when I saw hand prints in the mud under some water obviously the sensible thing to do is to put my hand print there as well....yeah ummm very cold water and very dirty mud. In certain parts of the cave it dripped water a lot so it was very dodging the drops, but they also had random sound bites in the background. Near the end of the caves this loud kind of growling sound goes off and I jokingly ask Desmond if that was his stomach, but when I turn to find him, he had run off because of the scary noise only to come back minutes later realizing this is not a scary movie and he is perfectly safe. However it was very clear to the rest of us if this was a horror film Desmond is not sticking around to save anyone, haha. It was non-stop laughter with us down there, I couldn't ask for better team mates this week.
For dinner time, Annette, Donna, Sarah, and myself went to Mike and Vicki Cook's house. Vicki made a delicious beef casserole with potatoes, and green beans, asparagus, and peas. Pudding for the night was a Key Lime Cheesecake, (I had seconds!) Great food, wonderful company, I'm never coming home, ;)
Fun Facts: Karen (who's afraid of heights) climbed spiral stairs today and got quite close to the castle edge today!!! We took pics for evidence, she wants me to delete mine, yeah not gonna happen its just too perfect :) Sorry Karen.
Sarah was interviewed today about her testimony and how God has helped her through a difficult time. She was definitely out of her comfort zone and did brilliantly. We were all choked up by her story, no one no matter their looks, speech, or disabilities should be made to feel less important than someone else.
Desmond hid in a creepy hole in the caves, reached out, grabbed Angie, who screamed, so I screamed it was quite a good day indeed.
God Bless
