Friday:
I stayed up late with Lucy again, Chris scolded us ;), we were watching Horrible Histories and then got to chatting about life and our families, you know girl talk/bonding so we got to bed at about 2:30, yeah not good but we got up on time and quickly got ready for Holiday Club. Chris made me a crispy bacon sandwich for breakfast and then was disgusted when I added ketchup to it, lol.
Got down to the church, did our last minute set up and talked with Val about what we were doing today with crafts and games. Yesterday they made frogs out of paper plates to be a letter keeper and to hold their secret files book from the week so we didn't have a craft today we just played fun games after the lesson time. The lesson for the day was God saved Moses and his people from the Egyptians across the red sea and He's also here for you when you need Him. The kids were told to dress up like Super Heroes, they were so amazing and one little girl, Hannah, dressed up as "Capt Ketchup" I was so touched and her mom told me that she was so adamant about it that morning and even though it was hot outside she was gonna wear long pants and a long sleeve shirt anyway as her all red outfit and a cape. She really was my number 1 fan so I made sure to hand her a t-shirt and not just hope she'd catch one.
Well Captain Ketchup made her last appearance of the week and did the dance that the kids love so much, told some awesome jokes (didn't let them know that I was in a lot of pain with my twisted knee) and ran off after doing the dance one more time. Agent Z was finally caught for good and the Operation Moses Papers were found and safe :). The parents showed up early at the end to hear what the kids learned through out the week and then we had a BBQ with them (Praise Jesus, the rain held off till afterwards). We got to visit with them and invite them to church on Sunday for a kid's service where someone will be getting "Gunged" fingers crossed that it's Karen and not poor Tom again.
After that we left from the church to head to Goodrich Castle, medieval castle ruins but instead of just being a castle/fort where a boring war was fought this was an actual castle where a family lived for many many years before it was destroyed in a war. We got a audio guide and it was really fun to go through each rooms and imagine how wonderful it was back then. Liz and I climbed the steep tower in the Keep, very scary coming down in a dim-lit narrow spiral staircase with a rope for a railing. After that wonderful trip we headed off to Tintern Abbey, last year we couldn't go in because they were closed by the time we got there this year we had to go in so all my pictures of the outside of it now has inside pictures as well :). It's gorgeous from the outside but the inside is beyond words, even though its ruins (thanks to Henry the 8th) you can just stand in the middle of and see the beautiful site it once was and close your eyes and imagine all that went on there with the monks and church services. We of course stopped for tea and scones before we headed home before going to Karen and Tristan's for Dinner.
It was a potluck of sorts with Lasagna as the main dish with some couscous and other wonderful sides, followed by too many puddings to name, with one of them being called "Heaven a Fork" instead of Norman Apple Cake. We were there with most of the Holiday Club Helpers, we sat or stood around just enjoying the weather and each others company. I'm really gonna miss them all, and of course was told I haven't got a choice I will be back next year.
After I got home, Chris and I watched the Cricket Highlights, England not doing too good but hopefully tomorrow will be a better day.
Thanks Again for reading, I hope you've enjoyed it just as much as I have
