Day 2: I should've slept on the plane

Hiya,

First things first sorry Day 2 is coming late but with a day in London and no access to the Internet until now, its the best I could do.

So we promptly landed in Heathrow airport at 7:30 am, their time (1:30 am our time), once you get off the plane you go down a series of hallways trying to not get run over by golf carts carting around the older gents, and then you come to the big room 'o customs. Mind you this is the busiest traveling day in London because schools have all just let out for the summer holiday, so there is a huge queue (line) for customs that goes out a side door/hallway. We go to the end of that hallway and what do you know there is another long hallway that continues the queue, it was a very bad surprise to see that, nevertheless we got in line and we're thru customs at about 8:40.

After we located are luggage it was very nice to come thru the doors and see Lesley's lovely face to say we're actually here now. After coffee and crumpets we ran off to catch a train to take us to another train to take us to another train, once we survived all the trains we checked our luggage at the "Left Luggage" area so we could around London baggage free. We then hopped on a double decker bus, The Big Bus Tour, on the blue route, which means no live tour guide, to go find a red route stop to then have a live tour guide. We got on the red route bus and found lovely seats on the top, gorgeous day/weather we were having as well.

Our tour guide Matt, quite brilliant he was I very much fancied him and would've happily stayed on the bus with him all day, of course we couldn't but while we were on the bus he told us many lovely/funny stories with the buildings, statues, roads and thru in some cheesy jokes for the silly American (Me) who was constantly laughing at them. Once we got off the bus we went and ate a pub, then we caught the boat part of the tour, which is when I took my first nap of the day (I couldn't help it the water/rocking was very soothing). We carried on saw London Tower, Buckingham Palace (Queen was at home), Trafalgar Square, Westminster Abbey, Big Ben..... We stopped off at the Eye (the giant Ferris wheel) while Suzy Anderson got on that, I snuck off to the London Film Museum and happily got lost in there. Many Many Many pictures which I will have up at the end of the trip.

We finally headed back to Paddington station, grabbed our luggage, got tickets to Kemble, waited for our platform to be announced (while we waited the Paddington Station Brass Band played some lovely background music). We arrived in Kemble at about 9pm, where the Davids and James picked us up and brought us to our house families.

I'm staying with Chris & Lucy Lowther, a very lovely couple. She's sweeter than pie and he's very down to earth always picking jokes at you so it's exactly like being at home with my own parents.

stay tuned.....
